Stories from the Campus
Kuwala’s Bond with the Community.
The relationship between Kuwala and the surrounding communities is symbiotic; the local population actively supports Kuwala by providing labour for various tasks, including agricultural piecework at the farm, security services for the campus, culinary preparations, and construction efforts. This collaboration strengthens community ties and enhances the operational capacity of Kuwala’s initiatives.

Before the students departed for the Christmas holidays, they engaged in a project spearheaded by the school nurse, Ms. Mines Steven. The initiative titled “Keep the Farm Clean, Keep the Campus Clean” was devised by Ms. Steven to instill in students the significance of environmental stewardship and to promote proactive health practices. With the rainy weather anticipated during the break, this project provided an optimal framework for assigning students specific areas of the farm and campus for waste collection, addressing litter accumulation and enhancing the overall tidiness of the Kuwala grounds. Furthermore, the program encouraged the students to replicate these activities in their home villages, extending the principles of environmental cleanliness and sustainable living practices beyond the school setting.
Building a Better Campus
Exciting developments are underway on campus, including constructing a state-of-the-art incinerator to manage waste materials safely. Meanwhile, our dedicated recycling team is hard at crafting innovative strategies to boost our recycling efforts and significantly reduce plastic bottle waste.

Kuwala aims to enhance environmental stewardship and continually seeks creative initiatives to promote self-sufficiency. In Form 1 class, students immerse themselves in ecological conservation through engaging Chemistry lessons. Hands-on activities bring sustainable practices to life and ignite their passion for protecting our planet. Each Form has been given a plot of land to help manage and protect. Through environmental stewardship, we teach the students to care for the environment to build a better Campus and future.
